Hi all……Welcome to my new golf blog

Welcome to my first blog, great to be on here, I must be going to another level this being my first experience blogging the world wide web, but first who am I…my name is David married to Florence and we have 3 kids Tyson 17 years, Bronson 10years and Summer 3years going on 21…yip the BOSS and we reside in Whitby New Zealand, well short and sweet thats the intro out of the way and now my blogging adventure begins……..

What I’m going to blog about is one the the things that always being on my mind as a golfer and that is golf club memberships…….. I currently belong to a golf club and I am thinking about not renewing membership, due to the fact that I cannot justify paying $700.00 a year and only playing about 10 – 15 rounds of golf a year.

Now…. I don’t think Florence will be too happy about that, considering that I have a gym membership too…BUT thats another story or maybe my next topic for another blog so watch this space..I currently work full-time as a Train Driver and a shift worker as well I’m still not quite good enough to make a living playing golf well…. not yet anyway, I am passionate about golf, I love the outdoors , the fresh air, the exercise…and the extras I think you people know what I’m talking about…the hazards, the OB’s walking back to the tee, lost ball, wrong fairways ok you get my drift.

SO… where am I going with this…well I want to create a site where people who love golf can go and join and become a member of my Virtual Golf Club online and still have all the benefits of a physical golf club. At this stage I am still negotiating with a Country Golf Club in New Zealand to allow members who join via this blog site or a website that I will set up and to become an affiliate member of that Country Golf Club.

Sounds good……. so whats it going to cost you and what are the benefits:

* memberships for Country Golf Clubs vary between $100.00 – $300.00 depending on how rural they are or how far away they are from the big cities.
all you WILL pay is what that country club annual membership IS per calendar year ….thats all

* being a member of that Golf Club you will only pay affiliated green fees to any golf club nationwide, eg. non-affiliated members(meaning not a member of any club) pay$40.00 for 18 holes at my golf club, while an affilated member from any other golf club in NZ will only pay $25.00 and the prices will vary from club to club.

* one of the main benefit is that you will have an official handicap being an affiliate member of a golf club…now you can play in tournaments with your handicap and not being given a handicap that you cannot play to because you are not a member of a golf club.
also having a handicap will improve your golf no more headaches and you will also get to know the rules properly and the etiquette (what not to do ) as I have seen some shockers….

* you will also be given a membership ID tag for your golf bag and an ID card to show to other golf clubs as proof of an affiliate membership and that gives you a sense of belonging.

So….there we have it aaaah yes so whats in it for me……….to be continued ………..see you on my next blogg.
