Golf Clubs On Us

I get the feeling that people want me to sympathize with this man. I’m sorry I don’t. On the day of Tiger Wood’s major Press Conference (Sorry Press STATEMENT. Press weren’t allowed to ask questions) there are so many sad eyed pictures of him on the news you’d think something died. O that’s right….it was his marriage…..

Tiger should’ve come forward sooner. Since he didn’t the press basically had a free day. And so did the women he slept with. Since Tiger didn’t step forward they all stepped forward with evidence to prove that they slept with Tiger. Some had phone numbers, some had pictures, some had texts. Then came the spoofs. Saturday Night Live, Funny or Die, television stations in China. My personal favorite came from Break.com making a parody sex tape with Tiger Woods and a possible mistress, comparing the situation to a step up to the golf tee in a match.

There are video games where you play a man (Tiger) running from a woman with a golf club (Elin Woods) as fast as you can. Some would say this whole thing has gotten way out of hand.

Everyone knows why Tiger did everything that he did and I’m glad he admitted it. He thought he was invincible because he’s a professional golf player with $1 billion in the bank. Now he admits that he knows he’s no different than everyone else. We’ll see..

When it was announced that Tiger would give a public statement the race was on for seats but the press and select members of the audience had already been selected. Elin Woods would not be in attendance, she would watch the press statement from her home. People debate whether Tiger Woods should’ve allowed the press to ask questions. I wouldn’t have. There were way too many things that could’ve gone astray with that. I can see it now:

Reporter 1: “Tiger! Did you use a condom every time?”
Reporter 2: ” Just how MANY girls did you sleep with? I’m losing count!”
Reporter 3: “So does this mean that Elin is available? Because if she is I DEFINITELY want to give her my number”

The problem with scripted statements is just that, it’s a script. You already know your highs and lows, where you should get loud and where you should be sincere. Unfortunately Tiger Woods is no Barack Obama when it comes to public speaking, and at times his script did seem insincere. I felt as if I were in a Charlie Brown cartoon at times; his mouth was moving but all I heard was, “Womp wwomp, mwomp”.

His voice did falter a few times during his speech. The first time he cast a side glance at his mother, Kultilda Woods. I have to admit I was waiting for this. Would he totally lose it? Would she? Would Tiger’s mother just get so mad she had to jump up and slap him? No. But that ice cold stare she gave him during the entire speech, I definitely felt that. There is no denying it, she is PISSED. But at who? If you took Tiger’s statement to heart you would assume it’s the press. Paparazzi have followed Tiger’s family non-stop since Thanksgiving.

Tiger was definitely upset about this. It was one of the few times during his press speech where you could tell he meant what he said. You felt a sense of anger when he talked about the photographers following his daughter to school. He looked straight into the camera when he demanded that the press leave his family alone. I can’t really take that seriously when the day before he scheduled a Getty Images paparazzi shoot of him working out with a friend in full on Nike sponsored gear.

One surprise was that he actually mentioned the incident that set this whole story in motion. I didn’t think Tiger would talk about the night that Elin supposedly went crazy and took a golf club to the side of Tiger’s head as he tried to flee away in his car but crashed into a tree in the neighbor’s yard. Tiger denied all of this. He stated that Elin has never hit him and they have never had a domestic violence dispute in their marriage. So what really happened? Tiger didn’t say. Personally I hope she did beat his ass. Tiger says that all marriage questions, all the questions about his affairs, and all other matters concerning his family will be kept between Elin and himself.

So what happens now? Well Tiger won’t return to golf any time soon. Tiger has taken a personal leave from the PGA tour. He said that even he doesn’t know when he will compete again professionally. He’s taking the time to currently go to therapy for his sex addiction as he has been doing for the past forty days. He’s also getting back to his budhist religion. His mother is a budhist. Tiger says he was raised in this religion and wasn’t taught to do the behavior that he has recently participated in.

On February 20, 2010 Tiger Woods will be going back to the Pine Grove Behavioral Health & Addiction Services in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Clinic officials will not confirm his stay, but the National Enquirer pictures kind of blew his cover. He ask that people will allow themselves to believe in him once again.

Is it Tiger? Is it not? You be the judge.

I am glad that he FINALLY came out. It wasn’t as if it was a big secret. We all know you can’t keep it in your pants! Should we forgive Tiger? Should we believe in him again? Honestly, I don’t know. Was Tiger’s statement sincere? At times. One thing that can’t be denied is his talent. I’m very upset that Tiger’s talent has to be forever shadowed by his infidelity. I don’t feel sorry for his penis but I hope he can keep it in his pants long enough to get his life back together. He has too much talent to waste it on something as stupid as this.
